Support for El Mirage PEA  You may remember that back in November 2010, AZCOPS and the El Mirage Police Employee Association worked together to change the political environment on the city council. Not only did we change the environment, we changed the entire mayor & council. The new Council, lead by Mayor Lana Mook, are true supporters of public safety and have made it very clear their support is unwavering, so much so they want to build a new state of the art police station. They have also listened to their constiuancy who have asked for a YMCA facility, with a pool, for all to enjoy.  Mayor & Council decided that they should promote this endeavour through a voters Bond election, rather than through a city referendum. In doing so, the community has responded very positive to this. On November 8, 2011, the City of El Mirage will ask the voters to vote for the Bond, so that the city will not only have a much needed, updated new police headquarters building, it will have its first YMCA recreational facility. The leaders of our El Mirage PEA affiliate are asking for our assistance for their Bond election through financial support to the "Committee for Yes on Question #1". The committee can accept individual contributions up to $410; however, any kind of contribution will help. Contributions can be done at any Chase Bank under account #952057107. Your support in this cause is truly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact EMPEA President Doug Jones at 602.910.4168 or Committee Chair Laurie Carnal at 414.378.8071.

AZCOPS Joins NAPO

AZCOPS is proud to announce its membership in the National Association of Police Organization (NAPO). Since our separation from the last organization, our Board of Directors made it clear that AZCOPS should belong to a national law enforcement organization to continue getting our voice heard at the federal level. After careful review and research, AZCOPS selected NAPO. In July, NAPO approved our application and AZCOPS is now a full member.
NAPO is a coalition of police unions and associations from across the United States that serves to advance the interests of America's law enforcement officers through legislative and legal advocacy, political action and education.

Founded in 1978, NAPO is now the strongest unified voice supporting law enforcement officers in the United States. NAPO represents more than 2,000 police units and associations, 241,000 sworn law enforcement officers, 11,000 retired officers and more than 100,000 citizens who share a common dedication to fair and effective crime control and law enforcement.

NAPO also provides membership benefits through partnerships with organizations like Ford, Hertz, Apple products, and 1-800-flowers.com.

AZCOPS is looking forward to working with the leaders of NAPO and we are excited about belonging to a national law enforcement organization that will help further our cause at the national level. Please visit the NAPO website for more information.
